Flood Relief Collection at Mon. Co. Fair

The Monongalia County Republican Executive Committee is collecting flood relief supplies and donations for ongoing recovery efforts being undertaken in western Monongalia County and the Hundred, WV area. The Committee will have a collection point set up all week inside the exhibit hall at the Monongalia County Fair held August 1st through August 5th at Mylan Park in Morgantown, WV.

Items of need include personal care items, bottled water, and various cleaning supplies. Monetary donations are also welcome as the Committee will then purchase the items of the greatest need and see to it that they are delivered to the areas affected.

“Our friends, family and neighbors in Wadestown were hit hard by the flooding of July 28th and 29th. The flooding was higher and more severe in that area than any of us can recall seeing in years… maybe ever. But thankfully, we have no reports of injuries. Many did suffer damage, though. Our friends in Wetzel County, specifically Hundred and Littleton, were also greatly affected. We’re pulling together like a family to help others and it’s humbling to be able to help,” said Ethan Moore, one of two representatives that represent the western portion of Monongalia County on the Monongalia County Republican Executive Committee. Moore added, “When tragedy strikes, Monongalians pull together. Today we’re all pulling in the same direction to help those affected.”

Delegate Joe Statler (R-51st District) is also coordinating with recovery efforts in Hundred, WV and western Monongalia County to gather volunteers willing to help with the cleanup. All items collected or purchased for donation will be delivered by Delegate Statler.

Anyone interested in donation to the effort may contact the Committee by emailing info@moncountygop.org or calling Ethan Moore at 304-276-5050.
